Microplastics and Chameleons – poetic expeditions into H₂O
Roman Kroke developed the interdisciplinary workshop concept as part of his mandate as the “artistic mediator” of the scientific expedition MICRO-FATE, crossing the Pacific Ocean on the research vessel SONNE from Vancouver to Singapore. He also included into the concept input gathered during his following artistic freediving-research in the Philippines in partnership with marine biologists of LAMAVE. The workshop addresses the topics of “Plastic pollution of the oceans, biodiversity, climate change and sustainable development”, using an interdisciplinary approach (art, science, philosophy, literature).
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD: In November 2021, the pilot-workshop in partnership with the UFZ Helmholtz-Centre for Environmental Research, the Louise-Otto-Peters Gymnasium and the Alluvial forest station (all in Leipzig/Germany) was distinguished with the environmental prize “eku - ZUKUNFTSPREIS 2021” (2.500 €), awarded by the Saxon State Ministry for Energy, Climate Protection, Environment and Agriculture.
