LEFT Hand
“Resurrection” of the LEFT hand (2021 – …)
Born left-handed, Roman Kroke switched to his right hand for writing and drawing at the age of 5. His grandmother had told him that the left side of his face would rot if he continued to use his left hand.
During the Corona pandemic, he now began the project to bring his left hand back to life. For three months alone, he trained it exclusively with the study of lines to sensitise it to the different nuances of pressure sensitivity. “Consumer Temple” (October 2021) is the first sketch of his left hand as part of a commission (Museum Gadagne, Lyon/France). The aim is to draw with both hands together in the future.
