INSIDE STORY: Colour pigment extraction from deep-sea sediments (Project 2023)

One work project for 2023 is to extract the colour pigments from the deep-sea sediments brought back from my expedition across the Pacific Ocean. These samples were brought aboard our research vessel with the help of a scientific research probe, the so-called Multicorer (MUC), from a depth of over 5 km from the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
Together with the water samples also brought back from the expedition, I want to use these materials to develop watercolour-like drawings on the theme of “plastic pollution of the ocean, sustainable development and biodiversity”.
